About
Not one to stand on the sidelines Damien Browne is a driven jockey making a stellar comeback in the past few years after the Sunshine Coast-based rider took a nasty fall at the Gold Coast in 2006. Out for three years with two broken legs, Browne is now leading the stakes with one of the nation’s best strike rates. The unflappable jockey is riding lighter and working harder than ever before, steering the Sheikh Mohammed-owned Earthquake to win last year’s Group One Blue Diamond Stakes. Having also previously struggled with weight, the 42 year-old New Zealand native produced a cold ride on board Hardline to land the Karaka Millions, New Zealand’s richest race. In the height of his career after international victories, Browne is a strong Championship contender with a renewed attitude.
