Gun filly Omei Sword looked destined to sweep the spring but a minor setback saw Chris Waller tip her out with the a big autumn in mind. Before spelling she ran a luckless second in the Golden Rose. She was never going to beat Astern but should’ve finished much closer.
She’s beautifully bred by High Chaparral out of Thousand Guineas-winning mare Irish Lights. All going to plan, she could find herself in a Doncaster Handicap attempting to give Waller five straight wins of the feature mile race.
