“Noble Joey Gets The Ticket To Sydney!”

By Brad Gray

Noble Joey is the first horse to book his spot in the Provincial Championships final having won Wyong’s $150,000 qualifier while Better Not Blue and Princess Posh will join him having placed second and third.

“This has been the plan for a very long time now and it’s a really good feeling to pull it off,” said co-trainer Luke Price.

“He loves a fight this horse. I think had the second horse been a bit closer he would have had more of a kick there. He is a genuine Saturday city horse and he is going to the next level now.

“It is a privilege to train him.

“We have a month until the (final) now. We’ll go home, regroup and look after him. He runs well with his races gapped.”

Kathy O’Hara has a long association with the four-year-old having ridden him in his first ever trial and then in four subsequent runs before his Wyong victory.

“It’s really good to see him rewarded for his consistency. He has been such an honest horse so it’s great to see him in the final,” said O’Hara.

“He did a little bit of work for the first furling but I stacked them up and tried to hold onto him for as long as I could. They started to really bank up around me coming to the corner so I slipped him a little bit of reign and he extended really well.”
