Gerald Ryan was a top jockey and has trained with great success in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for the past few decades, including winning the Brisbane trainers’ premiership . He guided the career of Snitzel, now a successful stallion and sire of last year’s Cox Plate winner Shamus Award.
He won the BMW Australian Derby with Clangalang and has also captured a Caulfield Cup (1996) with Arctic Scent. Ryan has also had plenty of luck with youngsters including Snitzerland, Hurricane Sky, Paint, Racer's Edge and more recently Rubick.
