Spectroscope Books Doncaster Spot

By Brad Gray

Spectroscope booked his spot in The Star Doncaster Mile next Saturday with a stylish win in the Doncaster Prelude at Rosehill Gardens.

The French import has hit the ground running in Australia with back-to-back wins and after Corey Brown weaved a path through the field from the rear, he dashed quickly to put his rivals away.

“We think he is up to the top level, particularly in Australia. He’s really enjoying it here,” said John O’Shea.

“There’s an opportunity for us to run in the Doncaster with no weight. If he happened to have a good week we’d give good consideration to that. He would get in with a nice light weight so it is an option.

“William Buick gave him a hell of a wrap last week. When William speaks we tend to listen. It appears his assessment has been spot on.”

Corey Brown echoed the sentiments of the Godolphin yard.

“With that acceleration, he’s going to be a very handy horse,” said Brown.

“We cut the corner. For a fleeting moment around the 700m I could feel John’s hands going around my neck as I was going to come around them. All I needed was a run. Lucky enough the runs came.

“It was a bigger win than it actually was even with no weight on his back.”
