Derry Fires Home In Arrowfield
By Brad Gray
Derryn swooped on his rivals in the $600,000 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) getting the better of brave filly Global Glamour at the finish.
The son of Hinchinbrook impressed in the Darby Munro Stakes two starts ago, relishing the wet conditions, before not disgracing himself in the TJ Smith Stakes against older horses on Day One of The Championships.

“He really revelled in the conditions,” said co-trainer David Hayes.
“They back up so well off soft ground. He’s a horse that likes the jar out of the ground, so you have got to take advantage of it when you get it and he’s one of the few here that really loves the ground.
“I think this horse will be perfect for a Newmarket or something like that. He’s never been that far off the Group Ones of his own age, so maybe the Newmarket next year.”
