Another Aan Still On The Up

By Brad Gray

Another Aan is a horse “on the up” according to trainer Les Tilley as he aims up at Wyong’s Provincial Championships Qualifier (1350m) on Thursday.

The five-year-old only has six starts to his name but he has won half of them and his Scone romp back in mid-December prompted Tilley to test the Championship waters.

“We’re jumping in class but we thought we’d give in a shot,” said Tilley.

“He is progressing along nicely, I’ve had a few setbacks along the way with him but outside of a bit of a hiccup here at Wyong one day when he cannoned into one at the start he has gone along consistently right through for me.”

The son of Reaan is tackling the 1350m first-up however, his two trials to have him ready have been particularly strong with the latest a closing second at Gosford behind Group One sprinter Music Magnate.

Robert Thompson will maintain his association with Another Aan, having ridden him in his past two starts and will ride him in the final if he happens to qualify.

Although Tilley is “more hopefully than confident” about Another Aan’s chances he’s a gelding to keep a very close eye on heading into the first Provincial qualifying heat.
