2019 TAB Country & Provincial Editors' Challenge
Four years back the inaugural TAB Country & Provincial Championships Editors' Challenge was launched and it became an instant hit with the media and public.
The Challenge was created due to the amazing amount of interest generated right around New South Wales and beyond during the first ever Country & Provincial Championships Series.
With the Series attracting such a widespread following right around NSW, relevant newspaper editors were invited to ‘support their local horses’ that were heading to Royal Randwick to do battle in the two Finals of the Country & Provincial sectors.

TAB registered its support for the Editors’ Challenge and now sponsors both the Country and Provincial Finals whereby the first and second horses home (first three in the Provincials) in each newspaper’s region, would then be running for the newspaper’s favourite charity in the Final.
Last year TAB generously gave $5000 to the each of the two Final winners, namely Victorem (Port Macquarie News) whose selected charity was Mackillop College Women's Legal Fund, and Serene Miss (Central Coast Express Advocate) with their $5000 cheque going to Shoebox Revolution.
TAB also announced it would give a further $500 to each charity should their runners not win either Final.
Bragging rights are now at stake in 2019 with participating newspapers and their readers cheering ‘their’ horse to land the Final, while two charities will benefit handsomely.
